Malaysia's Highland Retreat | Cameron Highlands

Highland retreat

Cameron Highlands, located in the state of Pahang, Malaysia, sits at an elevation of 1,820 meters above sea level. Known for its natural surroundings and cool climate, it is a popular summer retreat for locals. Visitors come here primarily to enjoy the refreshing weather and explore the lush vegetable and fruit farms. Many also indulge in hot pot meals made with freshly grown local vegetables and savor the region’s fresh fruits.

Thanks to its ideal climate for cultivation—especially for roses—Cameron Highlands is home to many attractions such as rose gardens, lavender fields, and strawberry farms. Another must-visit highlight is the famous BOH Tea Plantation, along with its tea processing factory, which offers visitors a chance to learn about tea production while enjoying scenic views of the rolling plantations.

2. Tanah Rata
Further uphill is the second area, Tanah Rata, which is the main residential town of Cameron Highlands. Here, you’ll find villas, holiday lodges, and a bustling street lined with shops and eateries.

3. Brinchang
Continuing uphill from Tanah Rata, you’ll reach Brinchang, the main tourist hub of Cameron Highlands. This area is packed with attractions, including tea plantations, vegetable farms, cactus gardens, strawberry farms, bee farms, butterfly gardens, lavender fields, and rose gardens, making it a favorite destination for nature lovers and families alike.

In addition, Cameron Highlands is home to pristine mossy forests, offering a glimpse into untouched natural beauty. Notable attractions include Lata Iskandar Waterfall and Robinson Falls. The area also features an 18-hole golf course and numerous British colonial-era buildings, adding a touch of historical charm to its cool, scenic landscape.
