The Largest Mangrove Forest of Sonneratia in the World

Located just a 1.5-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, the fishing village of Kuala Selangor is home to the world’s largest Sonneratia mangrove forest. Thanks to its coastal estuary location, Kuala Selangor offers a rich variety of eco-adventures. By day, you can venture out to sea to witness the stunning tidal reflections at the “Sky Mirror,” or visit Bukit Melawati (Royal Hill) to feed the friendly silvered leaf monkeys. At dusk, marvel at the majestic flight of eagles up close, and as night falls, embark on a magical journey to see the glowing fireflies or explore the mysterious “Blue Tears” phenomenon. This unforgettable experience is sure to leave a lasting impression!

Sky Mirror

On the 1st and 15th days of the lunar calendar each month, during extreme low tide, a hidden sandbar emerges from the middle of the sea. Under the bright sunlight, this shallow sandbank transforms into a magical mirror, perfectly reflecting the sky above—as if the world has been split in half. The vast, seamless view makes it nearly impossible to distinguish between sky and earth.

This unique “mystery island” has become a popular tourist destination thanks to its stunning beauty. It has also become a favorite spot for photography enthusiasts and selfie lovers, offering them a picturesque and unforgettable backdrop.
